Flora And Fauna Of St. Petersburg’s Waterfront

Attractive Flora And Fauna Of St. Petersburg’s Waterfront

We drove south along the coastline of St. Petersburg, Florida. It was after we had fun walking and browsing at the Sunken Garden. We had to cut the visit short. The rain was getting us more wet with each drizzle. Along the waterfront of St. Petersburg, facing Tampa Bay, along the line of shops and restaurants, was supposedly a good tapa restaurant. We did find it and ate tapas while reminiscing of our travel to Spain. It wasn’t quite the same as the one we had in Spain. Don’t get me wrong. The food was excellent and the service was good. Our experience in Spain just felt better.

It wasn’t a surprise seeing palms all over the place. We were expecting to see palms. It was the sight of palms swaying in the ocean breeze from across the water that caught my attention. The bright background of Tampa Bay was highlighting it. It was a dreamy sight. We later found out that it was a beach park in St. Petersburg for recreational use. It was all waterfront here. None of the open beaches like the ones that we saw in South Carolina.

The local fauna was also a surprise. The squirrels and doves in the park were congregating in large numbers. The bushy-tailed rodents were moving around in groups of 2s to 5s. The squirrels were not shy in approaching us. They appeared to expect us to offer some treats. We didn’t offer treats for fear of getting overrun by a scurry of squirrels. The doves were on the trees, on top of statues, and on top of anything they can perch on. They stained everything with their droppings! It was not a good sight.

The cool weather, the slight bay front breeze, and the smell of salt-water air encouraged us to walk along the waterfront. There was the park, museums, marina, shops, and restaurants all along the way. This part of town was really attractive! Our next stop was to a famous beach.
