Siesta Key

A Magnificent Beach Paradise On The Western Coastline

Exploring the western coastline of Florida was one thing that we wanted to do. We knew that the main attraction for the area were the magnificent beaches and shoreline. It was back to the interstate after we left St. Petersburg. We were heading south along interstate 275 and interstate 75 to reach Siesta Key beach. The drive was a decent one hour of fast-flow traffic.

The wind was picking up as we were getting closer to Siesta Key beach. Thick clouds were forming on the horizon that was slowly getting darker. Drizzling rain was intermittently drenching the windshield enough to warrant using the windshield wipers. No worries! The windshield wipers were doing its job well!

We reached a parking lot that was still dripping with rain. Water was pooling on certain spots of the parking lot. There were a lot of ominous-looking clouds overhead. There were no signs of rainfall anywhere. We were blessed with a cool and salty ocean breeze with the overcast sky. There were only a few bare-footed people walking across the beach.

The sand felt powdery, cool, and smooth on the feet. The feet sank up to ankle in sand with each step. It was off-white in color. It was stretching wide and far on both directions. This beach was famous for its crushed quartz sand from the Appalachian mountains unlike the crushed corals that make up most other beaches.

Time was our enemy. We could not stay longer than before sundown as we still had to drive back to our hotel. Maybe next time we could stay longer.
