mural on museo del prado

Appreciating Art at Museo del Prado in Madrid

A museum is one place where we go to learn on the history of a country and its people. Madrid has Museo del Prado. A museum with a vast and rich collection of artwork from the Spanish masters like El Greco, Bosch, Titian, Goya, Velazquez, and Rubens. We were excited to go on a guided tour. It was our second day in Spain.

Museums, like Museo del Prado, displays the finer art pieces that surpasses public art like the statue of Don Quixote de la Mancha at Plaza de Espana.

Our tour guide was reminding us about photography in the museum. No photography allowed. I thought that our guide was not serious about it. Until, I saw a guy publicly reprimanded after taking a photograph. In a way, it was a good thing because we were forced to focus on the artworks and not on taking photographs. The only disappointment was that we can’t, at least, take some photographs to document our visit to a Madrid museum.

The only art piece that I photographed was the mural that covered the wall of Museo del Prado. The mural was covering an ongoing reconstruction/repair on the facade of the museum. It showed a fleet of ships sailing. It looked like the galleons that used to sail the seas from Spain.
