Discovering Seattle: A Pacific Northwest Adventure

About Seattle (just a little)

It is a major city in the Pacific Northwest region of the USA. Its location is in an isthmus between two big bodies of water – the Puget Sound and Lake Washington. The land was home to an indigenous population for thousands of years before migrating Europeans arrived. Seattle was the name of a local chief of the Duwamish population. The name was adopted to honor the chief.

An Extended Weekend

This was the opportunity to visit to Seattle. It was an exciting opportunity since we had been waiting for a chance to visit the Pacific Northwest of the USA. Visiting the Pacific Northwest was part of the bigger plan to visit all 50 states of the USA. The original plan was to visit Oregon, Washington, and Vancouver together while on an extended leave from work. This plan has never came to fruition.

The trip was also an opportunity to visit another national park – Mount Rainier National Park. The National Parks Service always provides a great opportunity to witness the magnificent beauty of nature. Some of the other magnificent national parks that we had visited were Yosemite National Park and Grand Canyon National Park,

Things to see and do in Seattle

We did some general browsing of the internet about the Pacific Northwest. There were several top things to see and do in Seattle. Seattle is a very dynamic city that has gone through a lot of changes over the years to become what it is now. We were browsing through the list of things to do in Seattle. Several made it into our list. Time constraint was the biggest factor that we had to consider. In the end, we clustered the places that we had enough time to visit. We did our best on what we can do. The rest had to be done some other time. Seattle, just like any other dynamic city, will continue to grow. We will have more interesting places to go to Seattle in the future.

  1. We visited Seattle last spring and took a road trip along part of the Pacific Coast to northern California. The scenery was stunning. I would have loved to visit Mount Rainier, but the park was still snowbound. We’ll have to save it for another time.

    • A road trip along the Pacific coast is also what we are missing. We really need to plan for it. It might be good to plan for it along with a visit to Oregon. I think we visited Mount Rainier at the right time. The weather was perfect! Funny thing was I thought I saw you guys along the trail. I did a double take on a couple carrying a baby with them.
