Pike Place Market

The Festive Aura of Pike Place Market

The Public Market Center was bustling with people. We were moving with a crowd as we were turning into Pike Street from 1st Avenue. It only got more crowded as we got closer to the market. Inside, we can hear yelling and cheering! A seemingly festive activity was taking place at the nearby Pike Place Market.

A crowd was gathering right at the corner of Pike Street and Pike Place. Just right inside the Public Market Center, young men clad in orange outfit, were entertaining the crowd with their loud yells and ability to toss and catch a large fish around. It was mesmerizing to watch this at Pike Place Market!

We eventually found ourselves exploring the inner hallways of Public Market Center. Away from the festive crowd of Pike Place Market. There were more fish stalls and stalls that sold other goods. To be honest, I didn’t imagine the Public Market Center to look this way. I was imagining in my mind fresh fish stalls on a boardwalk that was facing Puget Sound. I suppose this was a good way of our discovering Seattle including Pike Place Market. To see things as they really are and not as imagined.

Further down Pike Place road, amidst the crowd of people walking around, we found the original Starbucks. We thought it will be great to get inside and buy coffee in the original Starbucks near Pike Place Market! Alas! The line of people outside was extremely long. It was not worth it.

There were other items in our list of discovery that we wanted to tick off. So, we headed farther down the road for more discovery. We walked as far as we can until we reached the Olympic Sculpture Park. From there, we saw the Space Needle but didn’t want to walk farther uphill. We retrieved our vehicle and decided to drive to check out the Ballard Locks. There were some interesting plants around Ballard Locks, like the Pitcher Plant. It caught our attention for a while watching the insects fall into the pitcher.

Our last stop for the day was to see Frankie Feetsplinter. Frankie Feetsplinter is one of the troll sculptures that was created by artist Thomas Dambo.
