One awesome sight to behold in Porto Cathedral was its cloister. We were met with its awesome sight as we were coming in from the courtyard.

What we saw was a vibrant pop of blue and white Azulejo-tiled wall on the left side of the cloister. It was a beautiful contrast to the muted tones of the stonework. Massive columns of Gothic architecture created a sense of grandeur and reverence. It was rising majestically to the ceiling and was showcasing intricate detail. An obscure, yet grandly carved, wooden door with ornate framing can be seen on one side. It was inviting curiosity about the secrets that lie beyond its threshold. The floor, adorned with a rhythm of alternating dark and light colored geometric stone pavements, was like a tapestry that was emphasized by natural light cast from the courtyard.

The Chapel of Saint Vincent looked mysterious at the far end of the cloister. It was built in the 16th century as a burial ground for the bishops of Porto. Its red color can be barely seen with its candlelight through the ornate framed door. Rich decorations of granite ceiling, gilded Baroque altar, sacred crucifix, and a historic organ await to be appreciated inside.
