The courtyard of Carlos V’s palace was vast. The colonnade that enclosed it was elegant. The circular design was harmonious with the open blue sky. It was impressive! We were at the Alhambra in Granada, Spain! This was our tour while in Granada after exploring the sights of Seville, Spain.

The feeling of giddiness was tangible. It was something the about Alhambra. Maybe, it was because this place was so iconic. Maybe, it was because this place was the location of so many iconic movies. Or, maybe because this was the location of more recent movies that were popular with the younger generation.

If walls can talk then the wall were telling us a lot of story. Arabic scripts were on the walls. Different messages and quotes were inscribed in Arabic scripts. The scripts were integrated into the designs of the walls.

The Moorish architecture and design were more intricate inside the Alhambra. Geometric patterns, color contrasts, carved stucco, and mosaic tiles were on the floors, walls, and ceilings. The tour slowed down to a crawl upon arriving indoors. This was intentionally done to give us more time to appreciate our surroundings.

We came to a meditative mood when we were looking at Patio de los Arrayanes. The patio served as a courtyard for the Comares Palace. The water was looking calm, soothing, and was reflecting everything surrounding it.
