We went across Morocco talking about the famous Argan oil. We were marveling about the story of goats climbing on top of Argan trees just to eat the fruits. It was the goat’s droppings that made the locals discover that it was easier to extract the oil from the fruits. Commercially, the process of extracting the oil does not involve the goats now. The commercial success of Argan oil in the world market has made it very popular.
Never, have we seen the Argan fruits up close, until this moment. Tucked in a corner was a whole basketful of Argan nuts. Nondescript to us. Well, it kind of looked like coffee beans.

I’ve never seen Argan fruits. Interesting to hear how they figured out how to extract the oil.
The Argan oil was originally extracted from the Argan fruit for culinary purposes. What they told us was that a famous personality endorsed the oil as a skin care. The endorsement made the oil very popular and very much in demand. This became an excellent business opportunity for the local population who were producing the Argan oil.
