It was a warm, windless afternoon when we arrived at Caddo Lake, East Texas. The humidity of the swampy area did not help with the heat. Sweat, pouring down our foreheads and our backs, cooled us down a bit but drenched our shirts. The lake, however, was looking deceptively calm, almost serene.
