The altar of the Cathedral of the Madeleine. A Roman Catholic cathedral in Salt Lake City, Utah. The cathedral of Diocese of Salt Lake City.
We were able to tour this cathedral as part of our downtown Salt Lake City tour. It was our impression that not a lot of people were interested to tour this cathedral. Or maybe, not interested to tour downtown Salt Lake City itself. It was just us and one other person in the tour van.
We were very impressed with the neo-Romanesque exterior design and the neo-Gothic interior of the cathedral. This was before we started seeing the grand churches in Europe.
Random photographs of our past travels. Memories found and captured in a photograph.

Beautiful church. It’s too bad you weren’t able to tour it as part of your downtown Salt Lake City tour.
We did. The only difference was the tour didn’t go into much detail as compared to cathedral tours in Europe. Plus, we didn’t realize it then about the significance of neo-Romanesque and neo-gothic designs in buildings. Our tours in Europe sort of “connected the dots” for us.
