It shouldn’t come as a surprise anymore. July and August are the worst months in Texas to be out under the heat of the sun. Still, we say, “It’s so hot!”
However, July and August are also the months that we can catch a spectacular sunset.
We made our way to Melissa, Texas, a rapidly expanding suburban community 40 miles north of downtown Dallas. Access was through the always getting busier traffic of Interstate 75 or State Highway 121. In Melissa, we saw the newly built communities of two-story houses and manicured lawns. Just like looking straight out of the movies!
Our destination was the Melissa Weekend Market. Also known as Melissa Market or Melissa Farmers Market. Local artisans, farmers, vendors, and food trucks offer a variety of handmade goods, local produce, baked goods, and specialty food truck dishes. That’s just to name a few. One vendor, SwitMelon Creations, selling custom-made refrigerator magnets, pins, buttons, keychains, etc., said that the vendors change every weekend. Hence, every weekend can offer a different kind of merchandise. For us, we bought some sourdough bread and tasted the briskets from the food trucks!
The highlight for the day was to sit around and watch the sun set in the horizon.

Beautiful sunset shot. Not sure I could handle the heat. I’m barely handling the heat here in Ontario this summer, but then again it’s the humidity I find unbearable!
We actually looked weird holding an umbrella while everybody else was basking under the sun!
