Exploring the Refectory Hall of Tomar’s Convent of Christ, Portugal

Food and rest were essential for the Knights Templar. Just like anybody else. We imagined their heavy physical activity demanded substantial nourishment and rest.

A long hallway with a vaulted wooden ceiling, featuring stone flooring and a large door at the far end. The walls are partially covered with reflective material, and a decorative wrought iron gate is visible on one side.

We were following our guide through several hallways until we reached the one beside the refectory (dining hall).

Picture the refectory filled with diners. The tables laden with food fit for the Knights Templar.
