Recently traveling to Istanbul, Turkey and the Philippines left us with an unfinished wildflower garden. It was our DIY project at the start of spring. Heavy rains from thunderstorms and the amount of heavy lifting left us struggling with its completion. It remained unfinished as we were stepping out the door for our travel to Turkey and the Philippines. We can only hope that it, being a wildflower, will survive no matter the conditions.

We returned home with not much expectation but with great jubilation that there were lush, green and taller plants upon our arrival. The wildflowers survived and were flourishing. Flower buds and petals were emerging everywhere after several more rainfalls. The side yard was once nothing more than a drab side of the house. The garden has definitely added color and inspiration.
We found inspiration of adding a garden to our side yard from seeing the wildflowers along the highways of Texas. These are native flowering plants that can create a beautiful, sustainable landscape. Find more information here.

The wildflower bed is now splashing different colors of flowers. We added a few more sprinkling of seeds to thicken the growth. Hopefully, there will be a more lush, thicker, and colorful garden by the end of summer.

These are such beautiful and cheery wildflowers. Not only did they survive the elements, but they look like they are thriving.
They are thriving! We were betting hard on these wildflowers. We were thinking, what will we lose? They are wildflowers. They are supposed to be hardy. Now, we have a side garden of flowering wildflowers.
