The La Pieta sculpture in the Vatican. A sculpture created by Michelangelo depicting the dying Jesus on Mary’s arms at Mount Golgotha.

We were viewing it as part of our tour in the Vatican . The La Pieta was inside St. Peter’s Basilica. A great and famous work of art that can only be viewed from a distance. It was within a protective glass enclosure. The story told by the tour guide was that somebody tried to deface the work of art.
