Lake Windermere is nestled within England’s Lake District National Park. It is the largest ribbon lake in England. We found ourselves strolling along its shores. We were on short stop from Liverpool on the way to Edinburgh, Scotland.
Grasmere was the next planned stop before finally crossing over to Scotland. After Lake Windermere, we will be in Grasmere for another break from the road trip. Grasmere will be the last stop before we cross over into Scotland.
Lake Windermere was looking like a shimmering jewel gently covered with mist. The rolling fells and picturesque villages were its background. Its water was constantly reflecting the ever-changing sky and green hills. It was said that the mighty glaciers created this body of water by carving it on the hilly landscape.
Lake Windermere was seeing few boaters, kayakers, and paddleboarders today. Maybe it was the weather. There were a few people along its shores – that includes us. It was yet too early for shops and cafes to open. We also didn’t have enough time to sit and dawdle over coffee or tea.

Stunning shot! The water looks as smooth as glass!
Thank you! We were lucky to be there when it was serene and picturesque.
