Manly beach was a ferry ride away from Sydney. A wonderful beach with golden brown sand stretching for a little over a kilometer long. Here, we found a quiet spot to enjoy the sand and surf. It was quiet that day. Then, there was the short promenade walk from the beach to the ferry ride. Several dining places offered a variety of choices. We settled for some cold drinks and a corner to rest our weary feet.

I can’t help but laugh at the name of the beach. Looks lovely though.
I did a little of research. It was named Manly by Captain Arthur Phillip in 1788 because of the “confidence and manly behavior” of the local indigenous men. Well, there it is. It is Manly because they were manly!
