It was a slow cruising speed as we traveled from Dürnstein to Melk. A distance of about 30 kilometers. We barely noticed it but we arrived by late afternoon. There was only one place that was planned to visit. It was Melk Abbey.

The Abbey is a massive, Baroque monastery run by Benedictine monks. Not too long ago, the location of the abbey had a Babenberger castle until it was given to the Benedictine monks.

Today, Melk Abbey is a place of learning for around 900 students of both gender.

The abbey looks impressive in colour and in black and white
Thanks, L!
