Mule Train

We heard yelling! It wasn’t out of anger but rather of danger. A warning! In Arabic! It took us a while to understand. The warning was to give way to a mule train! We had just come out of the riad. Right after we heard the rug merchant and after we saw all the rolls of Moroccan rugs.

The mule train has proven that it was still staple in the Medina. This particular Medina was already ancient at the very beginning. It wasn’t built for the modern vehicle. Mule trains were needed to transport goods in the souk.

This particular mule train was transporting camel skin for the tannery. A tannery that had been processing camel skin for the past one thousand years. We were heading to the Chouara Tannery.
