The grand Palacio Real of Madrid was quite a sight. It was showcasing its Beniniesque design. We were walking right past it as we came from Plaza de Espana. At Plaza de Espana, we were already appreciating the statues of Don Quixote de la Mancha then we came upon the Grand Palace. We did not get the chance to tour the Grand Palace due to the presence of the King. It was our second day in Spain. We were skipping the palace so can take part in a guided tour of Toledo, Spain.

Security forces were guarding the perimeter of the Grand Palacio Real of Madrid. Felipe VI, king of Spain since 2014, was going to be in town for official functions. We were standing and viewing Palacio Real just outside the perimeter. There were security forces standing at intervals as well as royal security forces on horseback.
