Positano was the last destination for our travel to Italy. We almost didn’t reach it. The weather was starting to turn bad at Pompeii. Our tour guides were debating whether it was a good idea to go. A series of phone calls to the local guides cleared us to travel.

The local guides were requiring us to transfer to smaller passenger vans. The roads in Positano were too slippery with rain and were too narrow for a big tour bus. It was not safe. We were only too happy to comply. Positano was our last destination. There were two things that we wanted to do. One, get out of the rain and find a safe, dry place. Second, we really wanted to reach Positano. There was no guarantee that we will be returning to Positano soon. All the time we had to keeping our ponchos and umbrellas handy to stay dry.

The buildings at Positano were perching on the face of a steep cliff. The roads were winding, narrow, and gradually were sloping towards the shoreline. From the upper levels, we were seeing a deserted shoreline. Mist and ocean spray were shrouding the shoreline. We were walking gingerly towards the shoreline. Always careful not to lose a foothold. Breaking a bone will not be the best scenario.
The shoreline was deserted except for a lone fisherman. It was in stark contrast to the crowded photographs of summer. We took advantage of the deserted shoreline to enjoy the moment at Positano. I wasn’t sure when we can go back.

It’s too bad about the crummy weather, but glad to hear that you at least made it to Amalfi Coast. We didn’t have enough time to visit this part of Italy when we were there in the summer. Next time.
We started to feel disappointed when we heard the guides talking about postponing this part of the trip. The weather was really that bad. Good that we were cleared by the local guides. The trip that we really wanted was Cinque Terre but this was definitely cancelled. We will try to go there next time too.
