Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Praha, Texas was the first of the painted churches that we visited. The church has a cemetery right next to it. It looked old but well kept. I immediately remembered this depiction in the American and European movies that I used to watch. We did not have cemeteries in the old churches back in my hometown. It was a new sight for me.

The facade of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church
The facade looked grand and imposing to me. I liked the color of the stones. The steeple looked like it was reaching for the sky.

Right behind the worshipper’s back, above the pews, lies the choir loft. This is where all the angelic music emanates during service. The choir loft remains out of sight for most people. Attention remains mostly directed to the altar.

This confessional was situated and tucked at the back of the church. Its elaborate design and decoration made it an attraction by itself. Of course, the main purpose of this structure was to allow the worshippers to fulfill the sacrament of confession.
The last thing that caught my attention before we left Saint Mary’s Catholic Church were the stained glass on the windows. It may have been the sunlight coming from outside that made the stained glass look so bright. Each part of the color and design showed itself distinctly.
