South Fork flea market

South Fork flea market was different from other flea markets. First, it was sitting right next to the famous South Fork ranch. The ranch that was made famous by the tv series Dallas in the 1980s. I found myself watching a few episodes out of curiosity but it didn’t interest me enough to watch the whole series.

Second, the organization of the traffic flow and parking was excellent. The fee was ten USD for each vehicle. Judging from the number of vehicles parked, I would say that the parking lot alone made quite a profit.

Third, the sprawling arrangement of the booths dispersed the crowd. Walking around was more comfortable. It was easy exploring the booths row by row. The items became more interesting to browse without worrying about the next person beside you. We didn’t allow ourselves to be tempted though since we knew that it would just end up as another junk item in the house.

People were milling in the three big halls with more of the same items on display. We did a cursory look at it. Of all the items that we browsed, we bought a colorful piece of wind spinner that now hangs in the backyard. It looks colorful and eye catching. We should have bought more of it.

I looked back at the ranch house as we were leaving the South Fork flea market. It didn’t look as big when I first saw it. I can say that it was my fault that I allowed myself to be glamorized. It influenced me to think that the house was palatial.
