Spring has been teasing us with some warm weather. Typical of spring, the warm weather keeps snapping back to cold mornings. The warm bubble jacket simply cannot go to closet storage just yet.

It started with just, “I wish we can go camping again!” Followed by, “but I don’t want to sleep in a tent on the cold ground!” The consensus was, “we don’t have to, we can go glamping (glamorous camping)!” And, so it was, a plan was hatched for glamping on a weekend at The Cliffs Resort.

The Resort
The Cliffs Resort is a gated residential community in Graford, Texas. There is an 18 hole championship golf course within the community. The clubhouse has a restaurant. Several condominiums have units that are available for booking. There are three swimming pools on different parts of the community. Hiking trails right next and close to the golf course. A marina and beach at one corner of the adjacent Possum Kingdom Lake serves as a good starting point for water activities like boating, fishing, kayaking, and jet skiing.

From Big City To Small Towns
It was close to three hours driving from the northern part of Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas to Graford, Texas. The road wasn’t bad at all but it was gradually transitioning from the freeway to small country roads. The Main Street of the small towns had a mixture of old prairie architecture houses to the newer and more contemporary designs. The meeting place was at the resort clubhouse where we spent some time enjoying the view of the lake and the white-faced cliffs rising from the waters of Possum Kingdom Lake. The condominium units were within walking distance from the clubhouse. All in all, four families were spending the weekend together.

Family Fun Activities
The first order of the day was the mandatory chit-chatting (gossip, eh … news gathering) and mid-day snacking! It was quite lovely seeing the ladies getting together and updating each other of the latest news! Our last activity together was at Cooper Lake and that was a while back.
The kids and the dads started heading out to dip in the swimming pool. Unfortunately, it was still closed for the season. The next option was the beach by the lake. It wasn’t planned but the kids still ended up enjoying themselves with the sand, water, and sun!

Communing With Nature
One of the best things that we enjoyed experiencing during our weekend stay were the late afternoon and early morning activities. Late afternoon was the setting sun, the cooling temperature, and the chirping of insects. It was perfect for sitting in the back patio and just relax. Early morning was bike riding for the able bodied and walking for those who chose for a milder form of activity. A cup of coffee in hand and watching the world waking was just as perfect.

Glamping is my kind of camping experience these days. Looks like a fun outing with beautiful weather and great company!
It was fun! Glamping is just so much easier than tent camping. We thought about RV or trailer camping but glamping easily won the vote.
