Going to the beach is one of the things that we do in summer. The East Coast of the USA offers a very long coastline with wonderful beaches. One of these places is the beach in the city of Isle of Palms, South Carolina. The city is within a barrier island that faces the Atlantic Ocean.

Getting to this beach is a road trip for us. There are several other beaches closer to us, spread along the coast of the Gulf of America, but we want experience the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

A well-planned road trip in the USA is one of the best alternative for the flight-weary traveler. The current condition in Europe now, with the surging tourists in the popular destinations and the increasing complexity of air travel, deserves a second thought about choice of destination.

We plan our road trips with short driving times. Even a road trip of a thousand miles can be pleasant if we cut it in shorter driving times. We look for places with interesting history, sights, or just good places to rest. The road trip becomes more comfortable, safer, and more interesting. The road trip, not only the destination, becomes part of the adventure.
