We should mention that our trip to Miradouro da Graça was by way of a tuk-tuk ride—one of the three-wheeled scooters that began appearing on the streets of Lisbon in the early 2000s. It was said to be inspired by the Italian Piaggio Ape and the Asian auto-rickshaw. These compact electric vehicles glide easily through Lisbon’s narrow, hilly streets.
The 25 de Abril bridge stretched across the Tagus river. Its long suspension span painted in an international orange hue reminiscent of the Golden Gate Bridge. Its design echoing the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. This similarity is no coincidence, as it was built by an American consortium that also worked on several of the San Francisco Bay Area bridges.
