A formidable storm front was gathering. Its dark clouds foreshadowing turbulent seas. The air was feeling heavy with humidity as the vessel was pushing forward. The scene seemingly showing human resilience against nature’s raw power.
We had to wait at the Sabang Boat Terminal in Puerto Princesa for the storm to pass. It was the last leg of our journey before reaching the Subterranean River National Park. It was too dangerous to be in open water. They were calling back all the bangka loaded with sightseers back to shore. The bangka then had to be anchored in deeper water for its own safety. We haven’t seen a tropical storm of this size gathering quickly before our eyes!

We were glad too! It was our time to board the boat. A group cut ahead of us and were called back to shore. We saw the storm clouds just in time as the wind and waves started picking up. It was a fast moving storm.
