It was not only the Glockenspiel that was interesting at Marienplatz. The Neue Rathaus (new town hall) was towering over Marienplatz. It is a 19th century neo-gothic, multi-function structure that has several interesting features.
One feature is an ancient door that has a distinctive gold and black design. The door is part of the ornate design of Neue Rathaus on the north side of Marienplatz.
I wonder how heavy that door is! Looks solid!
It did look really solid. However, people opened it with ease. So, we don’t know. Maybe just looks solid. We didn’t try to open it.
