Cathedral Of Our Dear Lady

The Cathedral of our Dear Lady was just a few steps east of the Rathaus and Glockenspiel. Apparently, we were attracted to architecture and the cathedral was not an exception. The tall bell towers were visible from Marienplatz. We started walking towards the tall towers after viewing the ancient door of the Rathaus.

The doorway to the cathedral was elegant with its gothic design. The two towers were imposing especially when viewing it from the cathedral’s doorway. There was a rich history associated with the cathedral as we learned later. A fact that seemed to start bothering us. We were starting to notice that there were a lot more to see and learn upon arriving to a destination. Pre-destination research was definitely not enough to learn everything about a destination. However, that is the purpose of travel, right? To see and to learn.

The church is the cathedral of the archdiocese of Munich and Freising. It is also the seat of the archbishop. Locals call the church Frauenkirche.
