We stayed in a hotel around half a mile away from the water’s edge of Mykonos town. The ancient windmills were very popular especially at sunset when people love taking photos of it. We became one of the crowd. It was an easy downhill walk.
We were there at sunset and decided to go back at sunrise.

We visited Mykonos when we were in Greece in May and June, George. There is much about Mykonos that is beautiful and interesting, including the windmills, which your photographs reflect. But the crowds were a bit much for us. We were staying on the island of Tenos, a 45 minute ferry ride away, for a week and almost tourist free.
Curt, all our trips have been “touristy” so far. We’re actually scouting places. We’re going to decide soon which place that we will return to and explore more. By that time, we will be doing the same thing. Go somewhere with less tourists and enjoy our trip more.
So many of the tourist spots are touristy for a reason, George. Santorini immediately comes to my mind but the list goes on and on and on. We’ve never let the fact that and area is likely to be crowded divert us from something would like to see. We have tried to travel off-season, however, and we have discovered many places that are equal to the popular areas but have yet to be ‘discovered.’
We’re getting to that point, Curt. Right, we cannot allow the crowd to stop us from visiting the places we want to see. Just have to plan better for it.
We found ourselves this summer in similar situations since we were taking our grandkids and that was the only time they could travel.
