A UNESCO World Heritage site located on the northern bank of the Tagus river in Lisbon, Portugal. The tower, officially known as the Tower of Saint Vincent, was constructed in the 16th century and has served several purposes.
It was used as a point of embarkation and disembarkation for Portuguese explorers, like Vasco de Gama, and was a ceremonial gateway for the Age of Discovery. It then repurposed as a defense port, prison, customs house, telegraph station, and a lighthouse.

It was a short 5 minute walk through Jardim da Torre de Belém to reach Belém Tower
