A photograph of the facade of Ingreja da Misericordia de Aveiro (Church of Mercy). The church was closed but the facade was a joy to view by itself. The architecture was showing Baroque and Mannerist design.
The entryway was rectangular, wooden, dark, and framed with carved pilaster stone. The was an arch over the entryway that was showing a form of medallion or coat of arms. Tall columns on both sides of the entryway aided in defining the depth of view. What we found most striking was the limestone and basalt cobblestones in the foreground. It was very characteristic of the pavements in Portugal.
