An aerial photograph of the Eixample District in Barcelona, Spain. A district of mixed residential and commercial buildings characterized by its grid pattern and octagonal blocks. The buildings were also designed to incorporate iconic Catalan modernism architecture.
The buildings were designed in the 19th century with wide streets and inner courtyards for maximum light exposure and ventilation.
The design was credited to its urban planner Ildefons Cerdà.
