Exploring Local Delights and Wine Tasting at Grapevine’s Grapefest

Grapefest at Grapevine, Texas was on its 38th annual celebration. It was time for tasting and discovering. We were previously in New Mexico exploring its natural wonders. Now we were checking out Main Street for the local delights of the annual wine tasting celebration.

We arrived early and yet it was already difficult to find a parking spot. Not that there weren’t any but the parking areas were on private property and expensive! Public parking areas were fenced off as part of the event. We explored the surrounding areas until we found a privately-owned parking area. It was close to one of the back gates. The owner is a long time resident who has been allowing parking for a fee on her land for years during Grapefest at Grapevine.

Coffee was priority. We arrived early and went searching for a local breakfast place. It was packed! Besides, the menu was looking more like lunch rather than breakfast. We skipped breakfast! Instead, we found specialty coffee made especially for Grapefest in a mobile truck.

Paella or Jambalaya?

We attended one of their celebrations a couple of years back. Wineries, international and local, were offering their best wines for tasting and purchase. Cheese and crackers, sometimes even chocolate, supplemented the wine tasting experience. Aside from the wine tasting, there were booths that occupied the whole length of Main Street. A variety of specialty food and dry goods were displaying on tables at the booths. Some vendors were preparing and cooking on the spot. It was wafting its aroma in the air. Dry goods, looking attractive with its color and texture, were on full display. The aura was a fair festival in autumn. Just walking down Main Street at Grapefest at Grapevine was already a treat by itself. It was this wonderful experience that encouraged us to return this time.

Corn Dogs and Funnel Cakes were becoming staple in this annual wine celebration. It was really becoming more of a fall festival! We were not complaining but rather glad that there were more to see, taste, and experience.

  1. Sounds like a fun and delicious event. If you had issues finding parking even though you came early, it makes you wonder what other people do who show up later. I haven’t had a funnel cake in years and am now craving one!

    • The parking, we found out through the lady who owned the private parking space, works like a merry-go-round. People park and go and someone else takes their place. Parking is packed by late afternoon.
