Highlighting Art Noveau Architecture at Aveiro

One of the things that was highlighted to us during our tour of Aveiro was the Art Noveau architecture. It was popularized in the early 20th century, as we were told, in an attempt to create a completely new style of architecture.

The building highlighted, the Casa do Major Pessoa, also known as Museu de Arte Nova (Art Noveau Museum) showed us an example of the architecture.

Art Noveau had nature-inspired motifs, asymmetrical curving lines representing growth and movement, its integration to art and life, and the use of modern materials. What we saw was intricate wrought iron works, pastel colors, and floral designs.

Random photographs of our travels. Memories found and captured in a photograph.
