Moroccan ceramic mugs was another handcrafted artisan item in the souk. Mugs, usually made of white clay, were hand painted with intricate geometric designs. Sometimes, the mugs were detailed in gold. The ones that we saw in the souk were looking like mass produced mugs. Nevertheless, the quality and detail of the handpainted designs were exceptional.
The explosion of colors in the souk was in most handcrafted items. The exception, we think, were the woodcrafts. The woodworks had the patina of the cedarwood or thuya wood. Wood that were the favored material of the craftsmen.
