This day, we decided to see Neuschwanstein Castle. It is the tallest castle in the world. Our destination was supposed to be Nuremberg and Bamberg after Salzburg but decided against it. We didn’t want to see two cities in a whirlwind manner. Appreciation for the cities will be less and it will be exhausting in the end.
Neuschwanstein Castle is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is one of the palaces of King Ludwig ll of Bavaria that was designed in the fashion of “Castle Romanticism”. It is located on a hill on top of the incorporated village of Hohenschwangau.

We joined a tour Group to see the castle. There was a strict rule for entering and touring. The easiest way for entering and touring was through a group tour.
We started off near the central train station of Munich. Our tour guide filled us in with all the information and historical facts as we were riding the tour bus for one and half hours. Upon reaching the village, we had to either walk or ride a shuttle bus up the hill to reach the castle entrance. Then, we had to wait for timed entry into the castle. The guided tour lasted thirty five minutes.
The fashion of Castle Romanticism was interesting. It was different from the other castles that we saw.
We were a bit bothered that the tour was so regimented. It left a feeling of unfulfilled satisfaction.
Outside, we tried to fill the gap by viewing the castle from a distance. It looked pretty.

Looks like something straight out of a fairy tale. I didn’t realize it was the tallest castle in the world. Sorry to hear that the tour didn’t live up to expectations.
Yes, us too. We regret that we didn’t go to either Nuremberg or Bamberg. We were told later on by friends that either of those two cities have impressive architectures.
