One of the things that we really enjoyed at East Beach of Galveston, Texas was the wind and surf. The beach was better maintained and clean. There were not a lot of rotting seaweeds washing ashore. Fewer people also frequent this side of the Galveston. Of course, we had to consider that the seafront hotel was actively monitoring the shoreline.

Would it be fair to compare this side of Galveston to Santorini? Maybe. We saw almost the same conditions.

The shorelines in Santorini were occupied by seafront hotels. Bars and/or restaurants were at the back of hotels. There was a long promenade that provided access to extensions of the bar or restaurants. In between, there were several access points leading to the shoreline. The hotels were providing umbrellas and reclining chairs for their patrons.

The hotels at East Beach were spaced farther apart. So, we cannot really say that East Beach look exactly like Santorini. However, we heard that there’s a plan for construction of a big complex in a big open space nearby. So, it may not be long before East Beach will start looking like Santorini.
