It was while we were touring Mezquita de Cordoba when we came upon the preaching pulpit. A big piece of black mahogany wood sculpted together and situated so that it was above everybody’s line of vision. In the pulpit, a preacher can stand and deliver the gospel. What was striking about the preaching pulpit was not the pulpit but rather the black mahogany sculpture above it.

The image that was sculpted from the black mahogany wood was a masterpiece. The detail was amazing. Despite my lack of expert knowledge, it did not prevent me from recognizing the skill of its creator.
